We have both been to Amsterdam a number of times before this cruise, so this time we decided to give the usual big name attractions a miss and instead investigate two of Amsterdam's lesser known museums.

We started off by catching a cab (because it was raining fairly heavily!) to the Museum Van Loon - a classical house dating back to the 17th century that has been restored and refurnished.  After this, we took the short walk to the Museum Willet-Holthuysen, another canal house turned museum.  Both of these were well furnished with period Dutch and French art works, furniture and porcelain, and are well worth seeing.  In between this culture, we walked through some of the more usual sites, including Leidseplein, window shopping in the Red Light district and, of course, specially for Kate, the C & A department store!
